 Lettuce should be consumed before flowering. When picking mature lettuce leaves, make sure that no white liquid comes out of the place of cutting. If so - it may be that the lettuce has reached full maturity and may be bitter.
 You can immediately pick leaves from the plant. It is recommended to prune as close as possible to the stem, starting from the lower leaves and it is advisable to leave several leaves to allow regeneration.
 Preserve the lettuce for a long time - wash it and dry it well, wrap it loosely with absorbent paper and store in an airtight box / bag.
